Method 1: Get Inquiries From Learners

Learners in Malaysia will find you from search engines. A well-crafted Tutor Profile, activeness, and combining other factors will decide where you rank on our search engine!

Be sure to answer all inquiries fast! Most learners contact a few tutors at once. Those who reply to them fast tend to have higher chances to be hired.

Method 2: Apply Tuition Jobs

Some learners prefer to get a tutor directly from GoLearn. We will post the teaching details as "tuition job". Interested tutors can apply the tuition jobs and get shortlisted to learners. Do note that there might be a few other tutors who applied for the same job, so make sure you have your profile ready! You will be informed if a learner selects you!

Case 1 - Single Student

A SPM student at Petaling Jaya needs home tuition for SPM Additional Mathematics. The tuition rate is RM60/hr, 1.5hrs/lesson, 1 lesson/week.

Earning: RM60/hr × 1.5hrs/lesson × 1 lesson/week × 4 weeks/mo = RM360

Case 2 - 4 Students who study in local school

Assuming the average earning for 1 student per month is RM300. A part-time tutor has 4 active students.

Earning: RM300 × 4 = RM1,200

Case 3 - A Full-time tutor who teaches 20 students who study in International School

Assuming the average earning for 1 student per month is RM400. A full-time tutor has 20 active students.

Teaching & Lessons

Private tuition is a 1-to-1 setup between the tutor and the student.

Home Tuition

Private home tuition usually requires the tutor to travel to the student’s house or any method agreed upon by both parties.

Tuition location will be confirmed before the start of the lesson. Any changes of location require both sides’ approval.

Online 1-to-1 Tuition

Online lessons will be conducted on Google Meet, Zoom, Microsoft Team, WebEx, or other video conference platforms that are suitable for both parties.

The learning material will be in softcopy.

Yes, we encourage tutors to be ready to be interviewed or provide paid trial classes if requested.

The first lesson is regarded as a trial because that is when students/parents learn more about you. So be sure to give your best during the first lesson!

Tutor is required to prepare their lesson well before the start of a class, with lesson plans and teaching materials.

For the very first class, a tutor is encouraged to learn more about the student and speak to the parents. It helps the tutor to properly adjust the learning plans for upcoming lessons.

You are not alone. Most tutors felt uncomfortable when teaching at student's places, especially during the first time. Some even experience harassment at some point in their tutoring careers.

Tips on how to deal with some situations:

Hyperactive/Naughty Kids - Learn more about the kids' behavior from their parents. Know the kid's psychology. Establish your reward-punishment system to encourage learning.

Uncomfortable Environment, Allergy to Pets - Let the students or parents know what you need to effectively conduct your lessons. Propose alternatives such as libraries, cafeterias, and other public places that are convenient for both parties.

Argument / Unpleasant Conversation - Stay calm and professional when communicating your message. If you get angry, the person will likely escalate the situation.

Abusive Language, Intimidating, Sexually Inappropriate Manners, Discriminating based on Race, Gender, or Personal Characteristics - Terminate your lesson IMMEDIATELY and based on the situation, report the incidents to authority.

We strongly encourage the tutor to stick with the schedule agreed upon earlier, except for sudden emergencies like falling sick.

Any postponement should be communicated earlier and clearly to avoid disruption to the lessons.

If the student makes postponements more frequently than you prefer, you may wish to communicate with them and remind them to stick to the usual lesson schedule or work out a new schedule. Sometimes, a simple effort to communicate between both parties can go a long way in avoiding any confusion.

Any party can terminate a lesson, for any reason. If termination comes from the tutor, the tutor needs to ensure all parties are well informed.

Please ensure the termination process goes smoothly and be sure to collect the tuition fee.

Tuition fees depend on the subject taught, the tutor's qualifications & experiences, and the city you currently live in.

It depends on the tutor and student. The tuition rate and payment method should be agreed upon before the start of the lesson.

For GoLearn’s job, the tuition fee will be paid directly to GoLearn. Tutors will receive their payment within the first week of the next month.

Nothing worse than not receiving pay for the lesson you delivered. You would like to constantly remind the student or person who is in charge of the payment. Some people are generally slow at payment and require multiple reminders.
